Kolkata, India (Metro Rail Today): In a major boost to its urban transport portfolio, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, along with its associate company Titagarh Firema S.p.A, has secured a significant order from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) for the Pune Metro Rail Project.
The company announced that it has received a Letter of Acceptance for the supply of 12 additional trainsets, valued at approximately ₹430.53 crore. This follows as a quantity variation under Clause A.6 of the existing contract for the design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and personnel training for passenger rolling stock (Electrical Multiple Units) for Pune Metro.
The execution of this order is slated for completion within 30 months, further strengthening Titagarh’s contribution to India’s metro rail infrastructure development.
This is an extension of the original contract awarded in 2018 for the Pune Metro Rail project, reinforcing the company’s strong relationship with Maha Metro and its commitment to enhancing urban mobility solutions.
Titagarh Rail Systems Limited, a leading player in rolling stock manufacturing, continues to expand its footprint in both domestic and international railway projects, positioning itself as a key contributor to India’s growing metro network.
The Pune Metro Rail Project is a flagship urban mobility initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion and providing a fast, efficient, and eco-friendly mode of transport for the city of Pune and its surrounding areas. The project is being implemented by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and features two major metro corridors covering a total distance of 33.1 kilometers with multiple elevated and underground sections.
Once fully operational, the Pune Metro is expected to significantly reduce travel time, lower pollution levels, and contribute to the city's sustainable growth. The project is part of the Indian government's broader push for enhanced urban mobility and public transport infrastructure.
