Agra, India (Metro Rail Today): In a remarkable achievement, Agra Metro Rail conducted its first-ever trial run of a Metro train in the underground section of the project. The momentous occasion took place on Saturday, marking a significant milestone for the Agra Metro Rail Project. The successful testing comes after the completion of tunnel work in just 11 months, following the inauguration of the Tunnel Boring Machine by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in February.
The press statement released by officials highlighted the unprecedented speed at which Agra Metro accomplished the construction of the underground station. Typically, building an underground station takes three times longer than an elevated one. However, Agra Metro defied this norm, completing the underground station in a record time of 11 months.
Sushil Kumar, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC), extended his congratulations to the dedicated team behind this achievement. He emphasized the exceptional coordination displayed by various teams, including civil, track, traction, signaling, E&M, and telecom teams.
With the successful trial run in the underground section from the Taj Mahal to Jama Masjid Metro station, Agra Metro is now poised for the next phase. Train testing will be extended to the entire priority stretch, gearing up for an imminent opening to the public. Officials also announced that systems and signaling works are expected to be completed by the next month.
The rapid completion of the underground station and the impending public opening underscores Agra Metro's commitment to efficient and timely infrastructure development. The accomplishment not only sets a precedent for speed but also reflects the dedication of the teams involved in various facets of the project.
Managing Director Sushil Kumar expressed pride in the achievement, stating, "A train was taken to the underground section for the first time in Agra in less than 11 months since the start of the tunnel work in February. This is an example of great coordination shown particularly by civil, track, traction, signaling, E&M, and telecom teams."
As Agra Metro gears up for public operations, the successful trial run in the underground section signifies a major step forward. The project's impact goes beyond local transportation, contributing to the broader narrative of modern and efficient infrastructure development in Uttar Pradesh.
In conclusion, Agra Metro's swift progress in the underground section is a testament to effective project management and collaboration. The upcoming public opening is eagerly anticipated, promising improved connectivity and convenience for the residents and visitors of Agra.
