Two firms bid for 2 major civil contract packages of Nagpur Metro Phase 2

Nagpur, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Nagpur Metro Phase 2 project, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and YFC Projects – BBG Infrastructure JV have emerged as the primary contenders bidding for packages C6 and C8. These contracts, administered by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro), are pivotal for the expansion and enhancement of Nagpur's metro network.

The scope of these civil construction contracts encompasses the development of 16 elevated stations across Reach 2B, 3A, and 4A of the metro network. These stations will serve as critical nodes facilitating seamless connectivity for commuters traversing various parts of the city.

Maha-Metro initiated the bidding process for both contracts in January-February 2024, setting a deadline of 900 days (2.5 years) for project completion. The estimated values for the respective packages reflect the extensive scope of work involved in their execution.

Package C-06, estimated at ₹307.34 crore, entails the construction of 7 elevated metro stations along the Aqua Line's western extension (Reach 3A) and 3 stations along the eastern extension (Reach 4A). These stations, including Hingna Mount View, Rajiv Nagar, Wanadongri, APMC, Raipur, Hingna Bus Station, Hingna, Pardi, Kapsi Khurd, and Transport Nagar, will significantly enhance connectivity and accessibility for commuters.

Meanwhile, Package C-08, with an estimated value of ₹203.75 crore, focuses on the construction of 6 elevated metro stations along the Orange Line's northern extension (Reach 2B). These stations, including Cantonment, Kamptee Police Station, Kamptee Municipal Council, Dragon Palace, Golf Club, and Kanhan River Metro Station, play a crucial role in extending the metro network's reach to key areas of the city.

The commencement of technical evaluation marks a critical phase in the bidding process, with the assessment expected to take several months to complete. Following technical evaluation, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be unveiled, determining the lowest bidder and the probable contractor for the projects.

RVNL, with previous involvement in Nagpur Metro Phase 2 through the award of packages C-01 & C-05, brings valuable experience and expertise to the bidding process. On the other hand, YFC Projects, in collaboration with BBG Infrastructure, represents a new entrant to the Nagpur metro landscape. Despite being a newcomer, YFC Projects has demonstrated its capabilities by securing a contract earlier this year for the construction of a pedestrian subway at Nagpur's Zero Mile.

As the evaluation process unfolds, stakeholders eagerly anticipate the outcome, recognizing the significance of these contracts in advancing Nagpur's metro infrastructure. The successful execution of these projects will not only enhance urban mobility but also contribute to the city's overall development and growth trajectory.
