Agra, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UMPRC) has successfully conducted dynamic testing of metro train on elevated viaduct of priority section of Agra Metro Rail Project on 11th July 2023. The train movement was carried out from Ramp Area of Agra Metro Depot to Taj East Gate Station, which spans around 3 km. This section is part of 7 km priority corridor.
"Low speed train trials were being conducted till now on the ballasted track in Agra Metro Depot. For the first time, Agra Metro train moved to Taj East Gate station on a ballastless track," said UPMRC officials.
Speaking on the same, MD UPMRC Sushil Kumar said,“ it is a historic day for the people of Agra as today for the first time train movement was successfully carried out on the 3 km long viaduct and all train systems and equipments were tested successfully. We are fully committed to beginning the metro operations very soon for Agra. We hope to put sustained efforts in achieving timely commissioning of Agra Metro Project.”
There will be no overhead equipment for the movement of metro trains. The train will derive power through charged third rail running parallel to the track.
The metro system will blend seamlessly with the skyline of Agra, which is a heritage city and its beauty will be preserved by the metro.
The 7-km priority stretch connecting Taj East Gate to Jama Masjid with six stations is slotted to open to the public by December 2023.
There will be a total of 28 trains for Agra Metro and 6 trains for the priority corridor, initially. The metro trains for Agra Metro Project carry a distinct yellow colour and they are equipped with ultra modern technology and seamless design.
