Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): In a highly competitive bidding process, ten prominent firms have submitted their bids for the construction of Package C-5, covering a 21.14 km stretch of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) project. The bidding process, initiated by Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HRIDC), reached a significant milestone with the opening of technical bids at the end of January.
The Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, a visionary project spanning 121.7 km, aims to introduce the state's first semi-high-speed rail line. Package C-5, a crucial segment of this ambitious venture, is earmarked for the construction of a 3.9 km viaduct alongside the Aravalis, east of the previously awarded tunnel Package C-4, secured by Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL) in March 2023. The scope of Package C-5 also encompasses an at-grade section and the construction of three pivotal stations: IMT Sohna Station, Silani Station, and New Pirthala Station.
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor's (WDFC) Dadri – Rewari section will intersect with HORC's Package C-5, adding complexity and significance to the construction efforts.
The bidding process, initiated in November 2023, attracted ten reputable firms, each vying for the prestigious construction contract. The estimated worth of the contract is reported to be Rs. 1180 crore, and the project comes with a three-year completion deadline.
The ten bidders include:
The comprehensive scope of Package C-5 involves a composite contract package for the new Broad Gauge (BG) Double Railway Line of HORC, covering various aspects: (i) Design and Construction of Civil Works (Earthwork, Bridges, Stations, and Retaining Walls) from km -2.296 to km 12.00 & km 18.00 to km 20.942; (ii) Design & Construction of a viaduct from km 20.942 to km 24.844; (iii) Design & Construction of Ballastless track from km 20.842 to km 24.844; and (iv) Design, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of General Electrical Services from km -2.296 to km 12.00 and Km 18.00 to Km 24.844.
The submitted bids are currently undergoing technical evaluation, a process that may take several months to complete. Once the technical bid evaluation is concluded, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened, revealing the lowest bidder and the likely contractor for this significant phase of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project.
The fierce competition among these established firms underscores the importance of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project, signaling a pivotal step towards enhancing rail connectivity and infrastructure in the state.
