5 Firms bid for ₹495 crore Civil Contract Package (IN-04) of Indore Metro Rail Project

Indore, India (Metro Rail Today): The quest to sculpt Indore's transformative urban landscape has gained momentum as 5 prominent construction firms step into the arena, submitting bids for the 33.53 km Indore Metro Phase 1 project's Package IN-04. The Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MPMRCL) recently unveiled the technical bids, ushering in a new phase of contention.

This specific section, spanning approximately 5.2 km, features a dynamic viaduct and hosts 5 strategically located stations—Shaheed Bagh (formerly Mumtaj Bagh Colony), Khajrana Chauraha, Bengali Chauraha, Patrakar Colony, and Palasia Chauraha. Situated on the eastern side of the city's Yellow Line, this segment is a pivotal element in Indore's evolving metro network.

Ultimately, this predominantly elevated line will culminate as a ring line, seamlessly connecting key destinations such as Palasia, Railway Station, Rajwara, Airport, and Bhawarsala through a network of 30 elevated stations.

MPMRCL invited tenders for the contract package IN-04's construction in March 2023, projecting an estimated cost of Rs 495.32 crore and a deadline spanning 1095 days.

The contenders vying for the opportunity are:

  • Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd
  • ITD Cementation India Ltd
  • Ranjit Buildcon Ltd
  • Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt Ltd
  • Sam India Builtwell Pvt Ltd

While unconfirmed, there are reports that Kalpataru and URC Constructions also submitted bids without a bank guarantee, leading to the rejection of their bids.

Marked with Tender No: 614/MPMRCL/2023/Package IN-04, the project scope encompasses the partial design and construction of an elevated viaduct along with five elevated metro rail stations. Additionally, ramps are situated between Chainages 31+755 to 34+898 and 3+669 to 5+86, vital components of the Indore Metro Ring Line Project.

With bids now in the hands of meticulous technical evaluation—a process anticipated to span a few months—the competition is poised to escalate. Upon completion of this evaluation, the financial bids from the technically qualified bidders will be unveiled, shedding light on the lowest bidder and potential contractor set to steer this impactful construction endeavor.

Package IN-04 represents the fourth civil package along the mainline and the fifth in total, including the Gandhi Nagar Depot, to venture into the demanding phase of technical bid evaluation. As Indore's future urban transit landscape takes shape, these industry leaders vie for the chance to etch their mark on the city's thriving evolution.
