UPMRCL had invited bids for the consultancy contract, with technical bids opened on 28 October 2025. Two firms participated in the tendering process and both qualified in the technical evaluation stage. Financial bids were subsequently opened and evaluated on 29 January 2026, after which the AYESA-led consortium emerged as the lowest bidder.
The financial bid submitted by AYESA Ingenieria y Arquitectura S.A.U. stood at ₹15.9 crore, significantly lower than the ₹28 crore quoted by Systra MVA Consulting (India) Private Limited. The contract duration is set at 1,825 days.
The scope of work covers comprehensive detailed design consultancy for civil, architectural, electrical and mechanical (E&M), and traction works. The assignment includes design of a 4.29 km elevated section, including ramp structures, featuring five elevated stations at Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musabagh, and Vasant Kunj. It also involves a 6.88 km underground stretch, including ramp sections, with seven underground stations at Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical Chauraha, and Chowk. In addition, the consultant will design a car maintenance depot and stabling lines at Vasant Kunj.
Lucknow Metro Phase 1B comprises a single corridor spanning approximately 11.165 km from Lucknow Railway Station (Charbagh) to Vasant Kunj, covering a total of 12 stations, of which five are elevated and seven are underground. The project has been approved at an estimated cost of ₹5,801 crore and forms a key component of Lucknow’s urban mobility expansion.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said, “The appointment of a Detailed Design Consultant is a critical step in translating project approvals into efficient on-ground execution. Integrated design for elevated and underground sections, along with depot infrastructure, requires meticulous coordination and technical precision. Phase 1B of Lucknow Metro will significantly strengthen connectivity in the city and reflects Uttar Pradesh’s continued push toward expanding modern urban transit systems.”
With the LoA now issued, the consultancy phase of Lucknow Metro Phase 1B is set to commence, paving the way for detailed engineering and subsequent construction activities.
