Gurugram, India (Metro Rail Today): DB Engineering & Consulting (DB E&C) has officially signed the General Consultant (GC) contract for the upcoming Gurugram Metro expansion project, marking a significant milestone in strengthening urban mobility in India’s second-largest IT hub.
The contract was signed by DB E&C’s senior leadership — Aditya Bharadwaj, Head of Project Delivery India, and Nataraj K. M., Executive Director India — along with senior representatives from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) and consortium partner Hill International, Inc.
The new metro corridor will span 28.50 km, designed to enhance east–west and north–south connectivity across Gurugram. The project consists of:
A 26.65 km main corridor from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City
A 1.85 km spur line connecting Basai Village station to Sector 101 (Dwarka Expressway)
GMRL has opted for GOA-4 (Grade of Automation 4) — the highest level of driverless metro technology — ensuring enhanced safety, reliability, and operational efficiency. This will place Gurugram among the select global cities with fully automated rapid transit systems.
The Gurugram Metro expansion is a critical component of Haryana’s long-term mobility strategy. Once operational, the line is expected to:
Provide seamless connectivity to major residential and commercial hubs
Reduce dependence on private vehicles
Strengthen the region’s public transport integration with Delhi Metro and Rapid Metro
Support sustainable and low-emission urban mobility
DB E&C emphasised that the project aligns with its commitment to delivering world-class engineering solutions that improve flow, accessibility, and sustainability across rapidly expanding cities.
