From Paper to Platform: How Mumbai Metro’s Digital Ticketing Is Redefining Urban Mobility?
Lucknow, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (UPMRC) today sent the revised detailed project report of the proposed East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro Rail Project to the Uttar Pradesh Government cabinet for review and approval.
According to the revised DPR, the total length of the East-West Corridor from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj will be 11.165 km. Of which, 4.286 km section will be elevated and the remaining 6.879 km will be underground. A total of 12 metro stations (7 underground and 5 elevated) will be built on this corridor. The revised DPR of this corridor was prepared and submitted by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC).
The cost of this corridor is estimated at Rs 5,034.55 crore with a completion deadline of 5 years. The stations on the East-West corridor will be built at Charbagh (Underground), Gautam Budh Nagar (Underground), Aminabad (Underground), Pandeyganj (Underground), City Railway Station (Underground), Medical Chauraha (Underground), Nawazganj (Underground), Thakurganj (Elevated), Balaganj (Elevated), Sarfarazganj (Elevated), Musabagh (Elevated) and Vasant Kunj (Elevated).
The East-West Corridor of Lucknow Metro from ‘Charbagh to Vasant Kunj’ will provide connectivity to high-density and busiest places of old Lucknow like Aminabad, Chowk, etc. It will also connect other congested areas along its route and provide accessibility to the people of Lucknow. The Charbagh station will act as a junction for both the corridors of Lucknow ie. North-South Corridor & East-West Corridor.
The Depot of this corridor will be constructed at Vasant Kunj. The estimated capital cost without taxes for constructing this 11.165 km long corridor in February 2019 was Rs 3,786 crores which has escalated to Rs 4264.89 crores. This change in cost is in sync with the current inflation rate as per government guidelines.
DPR has been also upgraded with a 750 DC traction system which is being followed in the Kanpur & Agra Metro project mainly due to severe OHE flashing problems occurring as a result of metallic wire in kites being faced in the Lucknow Metro project.
