Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant boost to Pune’s public transport infrastructure, the first trial run of Pune Metro Line 3 was successfully completed on 4th July 2025, marking a major milestone in the development of the city’s most anticipated metro corridor. The trial run was conducted between the Mann Depot and PMR-4 station, bringing the project a step closer to becoming operational.
The fully elevated 23.3-kilometer metro corridor will connect Hinjewadi IT Park, Pune’s technology hub, with Shivajinagar, the city’s central business district. Once operational, this line will feature 23 stations and is expected to significantly reduce travel time, providing a much-needed relief to daily commuters battling increasing road traffic.
The successful trial run is being viewed as a critical step toward the seamless implementation of the project, which promises commuters a safe, eco-friendly, and time-saving mode of transport. With thousands of employees commuting daily to Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjewadi, the metro is expected to drastically improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and enhance urban mobility in Pune.
Launched on November 25, 2021, Pune Metro Line 3 is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the city. As trial runs continue and final construction nears completion, residents can look forward to a transformative shift in daily commuting — making travel faster, cleaner, and more reliable across Pune.
