Five firms bid for Civil Tender of Corridor 2 Package 1 of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project

Bengaluru, India (Rail & Metro Today): The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) has moved another step forward with five bidders submitting bids for the construction of an elevated viaduct, double-decker station and associated works at Mathikere under Corridor 2, Package 1.

The project is being developed by Bengaluru Integrated Rail Infrastructure Development Enterprise (Bi-RIDE), the implementing authority for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project. The latest bidding activity marks an important milestone in advancing construction works on the suburban rail network.

Five companies in the race

According to the bid details, the following companies and consortiums have participated in the tender:

  • Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL)
  • Cemindia Projects Limited
  • AFCONS Infrastructure Limited
  • RNS Infrastructure Ltd. & Gayatri Projects Limited – JV
  • H.G. Infra Engineering Limited

The package covers construction activities at Mathikere, including an elevated viaduct and a double-decker station, along with the BSTP viaduct ramp.

The participation of major infrastructure companies highlights the growing interest in Bengaluru's suburban rail programme, which is aimed at providing high-capacity regional connectivity across the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region.

Mathikere package to support integrated rail infrastructure

The proposed double-decker station and elevated infrastructure at Mathikere are expected to play an important role in integrating the suburban rail system with Bengaluru's wider urban transport network.

The works under Corridor 2, Package 1 are part of the broader effort to establish a modern suburban railway system capable of handling increasing passenger demand and reducing pressure on Bengaluru's congested road network.

The project will utilise modern engineering and construction techniques to improve execution efficiency while accommodating the complex urban environment around Mathikere.

Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project gains momentum

The Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project is one of Karnataka's major public transport infrastructure initiatives. The project is designed to establish a dedicated suburban rail network connecting Bengaluru with its surrounding urban and industrial areas.

The network is expected to provide faster and more reliable regional rail connectivity, improve access to employment centres and support the shift towards sustainable public transportation.

The opening of bids for the Mathikere package represents a further step towards translating the planned BSRP corridors into physical construction. Following evaluation of the technical and financial bids, the successful contractor will be appointed for execution of the package.

With multiple packages being taken forward, the BSRP is gradually progressing towards the creation of an integrated suburban rail system that can complement Namma Metro, Bengaluru city buses and other public transport modes, strengthening multimodal connectivity across the metropolitan region.
