Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) today opened technical bids for the underground contract package UG-06/RT-01 of Corridor 5 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2 in Chennai.
As per information shared, a total of five construction firms/consortia have submitted their bids for 5.8 km civil package consists of twin tunnels and 5 underground stations between Kolathur and Nathamuni on the mostly elevated corridor which will connect Madhavaram and Sholinganallur through 45 stations.

The revised tender notice for this contract package was issued in December 2021 with an estimated cost of work of Rs 1,580 crore and 1,395 days work completion deadline
The scope of work includes construction of underground stations at Kolathur, Srinivasa Nagar, Villivakam Sub-urban Station, Villivakam bus-terminus and Nathamuni with entry / exit, ventilation shafts, plumbing, earthmat, architectural finishes including signages etc. including twin bored tunnels from Kolathur retrieval shaft to Nathamuni launching shaft and ramps with U – section in corridor-5 of Chennai Metro Phase 2.
This contract package will be financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
