New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has invited online bids for the construction of civil infrastructure at the upcoming Sanoth Depot, a critical facility for the Rithala–Kundli corridor under Phase IV expansion. The tender marks a significant step in strengthening operational infrastructure for one of the capital’s key upcoming metro corridors.
Issued under tender number D2C-8, the contract includes a comprehensive scope of civil works and is scheduled for completion within 30 months. A pre-bid meeting is set for April 22, 2026, while bid submissions will close on May 13, 2026.
Comprehensive Civil Works for Depot Development
The scope of work under Contract D2C-08 covers a wide range of construction activities, including earth filling, depot buildings, workshops, inspection sheds, plumbing and drainage systems, external development works, architectural finishes and road infrastructure. The project also includes the design and construction of pre-engineered building (PEB) structures, reflecting modern construction practices.
Once completed, the Sanoth Depot will function as the primary maintenance and operational hub for metro rolling stock on the Rithala–Kundli corridor, ensuring efficient servicing, inspection and deployment of trains.
Commenting on the development, Mrs. Mamta Shah, MD & CEO, Urban Infra Group, said, “Depot infrastructure is the backbone of any metro system, ensuring reliability, efficiency and seamless operations. The development of Sanoth Depot is a critical enabler for the Rithala–Kundli corridor, supporting long-term scalability and operational excellence in Delhi Metro’s expanding network.”
JICA Funding Reinforces Global Collaboration
The project is being financed through Official Development Assistance (ODA) from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under Loan No. ID-P329. The procurement process follows JICA’s internationally recognised “Single-Stage Two Envelope” bidding procedure and is open to contractors from eligible countries, ensuring transparency and global participation.
Japan’s continued financial and technical support has been instrumental in the expansion of Delhi Metro over the years, contributing to the development of world-class urban transit infrastructure in India.
Boost to Connectivity in Delhi-NCR’s Northern Belt
The Rithala–Kundli corridor is a strategically important line that will connect key areas such as Rohini, Bawana, Narela and Kundli in Haryana’s Sonipat district. These regions currently face limited public transport options and high dependency on road-based commuting.
The new corridor is expected to significantly ease travel, reduce congestion and improve connectivity between Delhi and its neighbouring regions.
As DMRC continues to advance its Phase IV projects, the Sanoth Depot tender highlights the importance of parallel development of operational infrastructure. With construction activities set to commence following tender finalisation, the project will play a pivotal role in enabling timely commissioning of the Rithala–Kundli corridor.
The initiative underscores Delhi Metro’s commitment to expanding its network with a focus on efficiency, reliability and future-ready infrastructure.
