Latur, India (Metro Rail Today): India’s railway sector has reached a pivotal milestone with the official commissioning of the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory (MRCF) in Latur. This significant development marks the commencement of serial production for the Vande Bharat Sleeper Coaches, a leap forward in modernizing India’s rail network and enhancing passenger travel.
The inauguration ceremony of the MRCF was a grand affair, attended by a host of distinguished railway officials and industry leaders. The event saw notable figures including NSR Prasad, Chief Administrative Officer of the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Neeraj Kumar Dohare, Divisional Railway Manager of Solapur, SK Sagar, Chief Workshop Manager of Central Railway, Anshumali Kumar, Assistant Divisional Railway Manager of Solapur, and Pradeep Gaur, Chairman and Managing Director of RVNL, among the esteemed guests.
Sathyamurthy K, Managing Director of Kinet Latur, highlighted the broader significance of the factory, stating, “This plant transcends its role as a mere production unit. It stands as a beacon of social and economic advancement for the region. With over 10,000 people involved in its operations, we catalyze job creation, support associated industries, and enhance skills. This endeavor aligns with the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision—aspiring to a developed India by the centenary of our independence.”

Kinet Railway Solutions, known for its role in manufacturing electric passenger trains in India, has secured a contract to produce 1,920 sleeper coaches and maintain them for 35 years.
