Kanpur Metro Erects 200th U-Girder in Baradevi-Naubasta Elevated Section

Kanpur, India (Metro Rail Today): In a remarkable feat, the Kanpur Metro Rail Project reached a significant milestone in January with the completion of the 200th U-girder erection in the Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section under Corridor-1 (IIT-Naubasta). This section, covering approximately 5 km, is a crucial part of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, and the construction work is progressing swiftly toward its target.

The month of January witnessed several achievements for the Kanpur Metro project. Apart from the completion of the 200th U-girder, the construction team successfully concluded the piling work in the Baradevi-Naubasta section. This vital phase, akin to the foundation of the metro corridor, was finished on January 29, with a total of 1153 piles completed. Additionally, the erection of the 150th Pier Cap, another key element in metro infrastructure, was achieved on January 19.

The Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section's construction commenced on August 8, 2022, and is marked by remarkable progress. This section is set to have five metro stations, namely Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Baudh Nagar, and Naubasta. The recent completion of the 200th U-girder near Baudh Nagar station signifies a significant step forward in the development of this crucial metro corridor.

In addition to the U-girder milestones, the construction team achieved the completion of the erection of 52 Double T-girders at Kidwai Nagar station. These girders play a foundational role in supporting the Concourse level, which represents the first floor of the elevated station. The completion of this phase showcases the efficient progress in both the underground and elevated sections of the Kanpur Metro.

While the Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section progresses rapidly, work is also underway in other sections of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project. The Kanpur Central-Transport Nagar underground section and the Chunniganj-Nayaganj underground section are witnessing significant developments, aligning with the overall vision of enhancing metro connectivity in Kanpur.

The achievements in January highlight the dedication and efficiency of the Kanpur Metro project team, contributing to the city's future as a well-connected and modernized urban center.
