Namo Bharat Trial Run Extended to Meerut South on Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a remarkable feat of efficiency, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has kickstarted trial runs for the Namo Bharat Trains, stretching from Duhai to Meerut South. This ambitious endeavor comes within a staggering 80 days of the inauguration of Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) services in the Priority Section by the Honorable Prime Minister.

As of December 29, 2023, the trials encompass an additional 25 km long section beyond the initial Priority Section, marking a pivotal advancement toward the eventual operationalization of the entire 42 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, well ahead of the projected timeline.

To facilitate the trial run, the Overhead Equipment (OHE) received a charge from the Murad Nagar Receiving Sub Station (RSS). The electric traction initially charged up to Modinagar South station, has now been seamlessly extended up to Meerut South station. Notably, trials were already underway up to Modi Nagar South station.

Throughout the trial phase, Namo Bharat trains are undergoing comprehensive testing to evaluate the fitness of all subsystems and equipment. This involves operating the train along the entire length at varying speeds. Initial phases include manual operation under the Train Control Management System, gradually progressing to tests assessing integrated performance and coordination with different subsystems such as Signalling, Platform Screen Doors (PSDs), and the Overhead supply system.

The 25 km stretch between Duhai and Meerut South RRTS station represents the upcoming segment of the RRTS corridor slated for public use post the Priority Section. This stretch features four crucial stations: Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar North, Modi Nagar South, and Meerut South. June witnessed the completion of the viaduct up to Meerut South, culminating with the installation of the last span. Subsequent construction works, including track laying, OHE installation, signaling and telecom, and electrical components, have been progressing at an impressive pace.

The accelerated commencement of trial runs for the Namo Bharat Trains between Duhai and Meerut South underscores NCRTC's commitment to the swift and efficient development of the RRTS corridor. As this significant milestone unfolds, the prospect of operationalizing the entire corridor ahead of schedule becomes increasingly tangible.

The NCRTC's proactive approach positions the RRTS project as a beacon of progress in modernizing urban transportation. The upcoming operationalization of the extended corridor promises enhanced connectivity and efficiency for commuters in the National Capital Region.
