PM Modi inaugurates 6-km Pune Metro extension from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi

Pune, India (Metro Rail Today): In a momentous virtual inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the doors to progress by dedicating the six-kilometer Pune Metro extension from Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi. The event also marked the bhoomi puja for the upcoming 4.4 km stretch from Pimpri to Nigdi. This expansion is not just confined to Pune; the Prime Minister also flagged off metro railway services for Kolkata Metro, Kochi Metro, Agra Metro, and the Meerut-RRTS section, symbolizing a broader vision for enhanced urban connectivity.

Shravan Hardikar, the Managing Director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro), shared insights into the imminent benefits of the new stretch. The Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Metro will commence its services from noon, offering respite to commuters and students from both Pune City and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas. The operational dynamics mirror existing stretches, with trains scheduled every seven and a half minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes during non-peak hours.

The newly operational stretch will connect crucial stations, including Bundgarden, Kalyani Nagar, and Ramwadi. While the Yerawada station, positioned between Bundgarden and Kalyaninagar, awaits completion, the estimated travel time from Vanaz to Ramwadi stands at 35 minutes, and from PCMC to Ramwadi, it's estimated at 45 minutes.

Hardikar revealed plans for the upcoming 4.4-kilometre metro stretch between Pimpri and Nigdi, estimating a cost exceeding Rs 900 crore. The initial groundwork, involving land acquisition and designing, has already commenced, with the actual construction slated to kick off in the next three months. This expansion signifies a significant leap forward in Pune's metro network, promising enhanced connectivity and convenience for residents.

In Pimpri-Chinchwad, the virtual inauguration drew a massive gathering of BJP workers, citizens, and activists at the PCMC Metro station. The presence of notable figures like Maval MP Shrirang Barne, MLAs Mahesh Landge, Ashwini Jagtap, Bansode, and MLC Uma Khapre added to the celebratory atmosphere. Shekhar Singh, Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal, expressed the administration's commitment to providing unwavering support to Maha Metro for the prompt commencement and timely completion of the construction work.

As the Pune Metro embarks on this new chapter, connecting more areas and reducing travel times, it becomes a symbol of urban development and progress. Prime Minister Modi's virtual inauguration not only celebrates the present achievements but also unveils the exciting potential of future expansions. The addition of metro services in other cities further emphasizes the government's commitment to enhancing public transportation infrastructure nationwide.
