Bengaluru, India (Metro Rail Today): In a major development for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), Rahee Infratech Ltd. has been declared the lowest bidder for the track laying contract on Corridor-2 by Karnataka’s Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE). This corridor, also known as the Mallige Line, spans 23.86 km and connects Baiyyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara as part of the 149.35 km suburban rail network aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility across the city.
The scope of the contract includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of ballastless tracks along the elevated viaduct currently under construction by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), as well as ballasted tracks and special turnouts within the Soladevanahalli Depot located in north-west Bengaluru. K-RIDE had floated the tender in August 2024 with an estimated cost of ₹102.24 crore and a project deadline of two years. Technical bids were opened in October 2024, with four contenders initially in the fray. However, the bids from Apurvakriti Infrastructure and the Sumcon–PPMPPL joint venture were later disqualified during technical evaluation.
Rahee Infratech submitted a financial bid of ₹103.92 crore, marginally higher than K-RIDE’s estimate, making it the most competitive among the eligible bidders. The only other qualified bidder, Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd., quoted ₹137.86 crore. Given the close alignment of Rahee’s bid with the project estimate, a formal contract award is expected soon without extended financial review delays. Here are the financial position of each contenders:-
Corridor-2 holds strategic importance within the larger BSRP framework. L&T had earlier secured the civil construction contract for this corridor’s viaduct back in September 2022, marking the first awarded civil package of the entire project. However, progress has been hindered due to right-of-way issues, delaying on-ground execution. Meanwhile, the construction contract for Soladevanahalli Depot saw KPC Projects declared as the lowest bidder in January 2025, though the letter of award (LOA) is still pending.
With the track contract for Corridor-2 nearing finalization, the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project moves one step closer to becoming a reality—promising faster, more reliable transit options for the city’s commuters.
