Siemens India wins ₹385 crore electrification contract for Ahmedabad Metro Phase 2 project

Ahmedabad, India (Metro Rail Today): The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) has opened the financial (price) bids of 750V DC Third Rail electrification system contract package (EP-02) on 16th January 2023.

As per the finacial bid result shared, Siemens emerged as the lowest bidder by beating four other firms/consortia. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

• Siemens Ltd: Rs 384.50 crore (L1)
• KEC International Ltd: Rs 421.22 crore (L2)
• Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T): Rs 435.77 crore (L3)
• Techno Electric & Engineering – ABL Electrical JV: Rs 529.93 crore (L4)

However, the financial bid of fifth bidder i.e. Kalpataru Power Transmission – Gulermak JV has not been opened as they did not qualify the contract terms & conditions.

Tender notice for Supply, erection, testing and commissioning of power supply receiving & distribution system, 750v DC third rail traction electrification and SCADA system for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II was issued in January 2022. Technical bids were opened in June 2022. The package will be financed by Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

Now all bids have been sent for final evaluation by GMRC's tender committee.
