Siemens-RVNL JV wins ₹378 crore electrification contract of Mumbai Metro Line 2B

Mumbai, India (Metro Rail Today): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) opened the financial bids of electrification contract package CA-40 of Mumbai Metro Line 2B conencting DN Nagar – Mandale (Mankhurd) on 6th April 2023 in Mumbai. 

As per financial bid result, the joint venture of Siemens Ltd and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) emerged as the lowest bidder. Only two bidders were participated in this contract package. The financial position of each bidder is as under:

  • Siemens - RVNL JV: Rs 378.16 crore (L1)
  • KEC International Ltd: Rs 418.07 crore (L2)

The scope of work under contract package CA-40 includes Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 2 nos. 110kV receiving substation including 110 kV, 33kV & 25kV cabling work, complete 25kV overhead catenary system along with switching station, 33Kv auxiliary power distribution system including 33/0.415 kV auxiliary sub-station (ASS) and complete SCADA system for main line & depot of Mumbai Metro line 2B.

Tender notice for the above contract package was issued in November 2022 with an estimated cost of Rs 443.36 crore and 3 years work completion deadline. Technical bids were opened in January 2023.

According to RVNL, Siemens is the lead partner with a 60% share in the joint-venture (JV) while RVNL has a 40% share.

The 23.649 kilometres Line 2 (Yellow Line) of Mumbai Metro Rail Project will connect D.N. Nagar to Mandale via BKC with 22 elevated metro stations at ESIC Nagar, Prem Nagar, Indira Nagar, Nanavati Hospital, Khira Nagar, Saraswat Nagar, National College, Bandra, MMRDA Office, Income Tax office (ITO), ILFS, MTNL Metro, SG Barve Marg, Kurla Terminal, Kurla (East), EEH, Chembur, Diamond Garden, Shivaji Chowk, BSNL, Mankhurd and Mandale. 

The Line 2B is being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 10,986 crore.
