NCRTC to appoint General Consultant for Delhi–Panipat–Karnal Namo Bharat RRTS Corridor
New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant move towards advancing the 164 km Delhi – Alwar RRTS (Namo Bharat) line, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has invited bids for geotechnical soil investigation work for a revised alignment that will extend up to Dharuhera in Haryana.
Originally intended to connect Delhi Sarai Kale Khan with SNB (Shahjahanpur – Neemrana – Behrod) in Rajasthan, the new alignment in its first phase will conclude at Dharuhera, covering a distance of 70.72 km with 13 stations.
The altered route will now traverse along the national highway 48 (NH-48), featuring stations at Cyber City (underground), IFFCO Chowk (elevated), Rajiv Chowk (underground), and Hero Honda Chowk (underground). This shift aims to optimize connectivity and accessibility within the region.
The geotechnical investigation contract focuses on studying the soil profile along the revised alignment between Aerocity and Kherki Daula, as well as at the site designated for the train maintenance depot in Dharuhera. This essential step is crucial in providing detailed insights into the geological conditions, aiding infrastructure companies in making informed financial bids and determining the appropriate machinery, methods, and technology for construction.
The adjustment in the route, especially bypassing Cyber City and redirecting through the eastern/newer parts of Gurgaon, is a notable strategic move. This realignment aims to tap into a larger percentage of potential users who can now afford RapidX fares, reflecting a thoughtful approach to urban connectivity.
According to the tender document, approximately 48.35 km of the line falls within Haryana, with 22.37 km in Delhi. While the majority of the Delhi route is underground, the Haryana section will predominantly be elevated, with only 16.28 km underground.
In Haryana, the elevated line will span from Sector 25 to Rajiv Chowk, Kherki Daula to Manesar, and Panchgaon to Dharuhera. This distribution aligns with efficient urban planning, considering the geographical and demographic aspects of the regions covered.
In June 2022, the SYSTRA – Egis Rail – Consulting Engineers Group JV secured the General Consultant (GC) service for this line. Additionally, NCRTC has enlisted two Detailed Design Consultants (DDC): L&T Infrastructure Engineering Ltd. for the IDPL Ramp to Rajiv Chowk section and SYSTRA – AECOM JV for Panchgaon to SNB and Dharuhera Depot.
As the geotechnical investigation progresses, the Delhi – Dharuhera RRTS project enters a crucial phase, setting the stage for informed and efficient construction. The strategic realignment and meticulous planning signify a forward-looking approach to urban transit, underscoring NCRTC’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and accessibility in the National Capital Region (NCR).
