8 firms submit bid to prepare feasibility report for Chennai Metro Phase 2 Extension

Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has recently opened the technical bids for three-package consultancy contract for prerapartion of feasibility study report for 93-km extension of Phase 2 of Chennai Metro Rail Project.

According to the tender notice, the proposed extension of under construction three corridors of Chennai Metro's Phase 2 are as under:

  • Corridor-3 (Madhavaram – SIPCOT 2): Siruseri to Kilambakkam Bus Terminus via Kelambakkam (26 km)
  • Corridor-4 (Light House – Poonamallee Bus Depot): Poonamallee to Parandur Airport (50 km)
  • Corridor-5 (Madhavaram – Sholinganallur): Koyambedu to Avadi via Thirumangalam, Mugappair (17 km)

Tender notice for selection of Consultant for Preparation of Detailed Feasibility Study Report for Extension of Chennai Metro Rail Phase –II Corridors was issued in September 2022 with a 120 day work completion deadline. 

The following consultancy firms have submitted their bids to prepare the feasibility study report for CMRL:-

For Corridor 3 Extension

  • Balaji Railroad Systems Pvt. Ltd.
  • Systra MVA Consulting (India) Ltd.

For Corridor 4 Extension

  • Aarvee Associates Engineering & Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
  • AECOM India Pvt. Ltd.
  • RINA Consultant S.P.A
  • Urban Mass Transit Company Ltd.

For Corridor 5 Extension

  • RITES Ltd.
  • L&T Infra Engineering Ltd.

Phase 2 of Chennai Metro is currently consists of three corridors:-

  • Corridor 3: Madhavaram-SIPCOT 2 (45.8 km)
  • Corridor 4: Lighthouse – Poonamallee (26.1 km), and
  • Corridor 5: Madhavaram – Sholinganallur (47 km)
