Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): Following the successful trial run of the metro train between Rani Kamlapati Station and AIIMS Station on Tuesday evening, officials from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Train Corporation (MPMTC) are preparing to invite a team from the Research Design and Standard Organisation (RDSO) for an inspection of the metro system.
The RDSO team is expected to visit Bhopal soon to evaluate the metro train and its associated components. Upon the completion of this inspection, the next step will be to bring in the Safety Commission, which will assess the safety measures and protocols of the metro project. Once the Safety Commission gives its approval, the metro will be cleared for commercial operations.
The eagerly anticipated first commercial metro service in Bhopal is slated for launch in July 2025, and residents are excited about the upcoming addition to the city’s transportation infrastructure.
In another significant development, the Bhopal Metro project welcomed an additional set of metro trains on Tuesday, bringing the total number of trains in the city to six. The metro network will consist of two major lines: the Blue Line and the Orange Line, serving a total of 28 stations across Bhopal.
The common depot for the metro trains is located at Subash Nagar, while the interchange station will be situated in the Pul Bogda area, providing seamless transfer options between the two lines.
The Bhopal Metro project is a key initiative aimed at transforming urban mobility in the city, easing traffic congestion, and promoting sustainable transportation. With the trial runs progressing smoothly and inspections underway, the metro system is on track to become a vital part of the city’s public transport network. As the launch date approaches, Bhopal residents can look forward to a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly mode of transport in their city.
