New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon Pvt. Ltd. (DRAIPL) has emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder for the supply of Rail Grinding Machines (RGM) for India’s flagship Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Bullet Train project.
The contract, floated by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) in June 2025, covers the design, manufacture, supply, testing, commissioning, and operation & maintenance of two Rail Grinding Machines, each equipped with a minimum of 16 grinding stones, on a design-build lump sum price basis.
DRAIPL quoted a bid value of ₹1,392.03 million, making it the most competitive offer among the participants.
L2: Unique Construction – ₹1,803.60 million
L3: SCC Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. – ₹1,918.98 million
The total duration for completion of the contract is 2,170 days, which includes long-term operation and maintenance responsibilities.
In a parallel development, NHSRCL has successfully completed a 100-metre-long bridge over an underground metro tunnel in Ahmedabad district, marking another key engineering milestone on the corridor. The structure ensures seamless integration of high-speed rail infrastructure with existing and under-construction urban transit systems.
The Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor spans 508.17 km, passing through Maharashtra and Gujarat, and is being developed at an estimated investment of ₹1.08 lakh crore. The project is being implemented by NHSRCL, a special purpose vehicle incorporated by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, along with the state governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat, holding equity stakes of 50:25:25 respectively.
The MAHSR project is India’s first bullet train corridor and is expected to set new benchmarks in rail safety, ride comfort, and maintenance standards. The deployment of dedicated Rail Grinding Machines will play a crucial role in ensuring track precision, reducing wear, and maintaining the high operational speeds required for high-speed rail services.
With key contracts now moving towards award and critical civil works progressing on ground, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project continues to gather momentum toward its commissioning goals.
