L&T wins ₹453 crore electrification contract of Agra Metro Rail Project

Agra, India (Metro Rail Today): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) opened the financial bids of contract package AGE-1 & 2 of Agra Metro Rail Project on March 7, 2022. As per the bid result shared by UPMRC, Larsen & Tourbo Ltd (L&T) emerged as the lowest bidder among other three bidders.

The scope of work includes Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of Receiving cum Aux Main Substations Incl HV Cabling from Grid Substations, 750 V DC 3rd Rail Traction System, 33kV Cable Network, ASS, TSS and SCADA Sys for Corridor 1 and 2 of Agra Metro Rail Project.

The financial positions of each bidder is as under:-

  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T): Rs 453.29 crores (L1)
  • Linxon India Pvt. Ltd.: Rs 491.90 crores (L2)
  • Siemens Ltd.: Rs 497.36 crores (L3)
  • Alstom – KEC International JV: Rs 595.75 crores (L4)
  • SWPL – GSC JV: Disqualified during technical evaluation

Tender notice for the above work was issued in October 2021 with an estimated cost of work is Rs 450 crore and 3 years (36 months) deadline. Technical bids were opened in January 2022. This contract package will be funded by European Investment Bank (EIB).

All bids have been sent for proper evaluation and completion of further tendering proces to finalise the contract as per the terms & conditions of tender notice. We hope this contract will be finalse soon as L&T has quoted nearest amount to UPMRC's estimate.

Agra Metro project will cover a total of 29.40 km network comprising two corridors. Construction work on 7-km priority corridors is going on full pace under the close supervison of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.
