NCRTC to launch MetroDesk, innovative Co-working Spaces at Namo Bharat Stations

New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a groundbreaking move to enhance both connectivity and comfort, NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation) is set to launch MetroDesk, a first-of-its-kind co-working space at the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station. This new initiative aims to transform urban transit spaces into thriving business ecosystems, offering a dynamic work environment for professionals, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in Ghaziabad and its surrounding areas.

Located strategically within the station's concourse area, MetroDesk will offer 42 open workstations, 11 private cabins, and 2 meeting rooms, providing flexible, productive spaces for individuals and companies. This well-connected co-working space will cater to a diverse range of professionals, offering high-speed internet, plug-and-play workstations, and a seamless work experience, all while significantly reducing commute time.

The Namo Bharat Station, positioned at a key intersection along the Ghaziabad-Meerut route and near the Shahid Sthal Delhi Metro Station, ensures that MetroDesk benefits from high foot traffic and excellent connectivity, making it an ideal location for professionals.

The co-working space will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, including smart access via biometric entry and digital key cards, IoT-enabled smart lighting and climate control, and automated meeting room scheduling. Video conferencing setups, wireless screen sharing, and tech-enabled brainstorming zones will ensure that professionals can work efficiently and collaboratively. Additionally, reliable fiber-optic connectivity will support uninterrupted virtual meetings, while QR-based scan-and-use options for hot desks, vending machines, and feedback collection will further enhance convenience.

This flexible and affordable workspace model caters to startups, small businesses, and remote professionals, providing an alternative to traditional office rentals. It also creates a collaborative environment, fostering innovation and networking opportunities.

The demand for co-working spaces has surged in recent years, with a report from Cushman & Wakefield highlighting that operators leased over 2.24 lakh seats across major cities in India last year. The co-working market in India is expected to grow from USD 2.08 billion in 2025 to USD 2.91 billion by 2030, driven by factors like flexibility, cost efficiency, and enhanced productivity.

As part of its broader vision, NCRTC is also working on commercial spaces within and around Namo Bharat stations, turning them into business hubs while generating non-fare box revenue. This initiative aims to not only improve transit services but also create new economic opportunities in the region.

Currently, the Namo Bharat Corridor operates on a 55 km stretch from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, with plans to extend the full 82 km corridor, along with the Meerut Metro, by 2025. The introduction of co-working spaces is just one example of NCRTC's commitment to modernizing urban transit infrastructure and making it a catalyst for business growth and innovation.
