Bhopal, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) in partnership with URC Construction Pvt Ltd has secured a lucrative contract valued at Rs 543 crores from Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited. This order encompasses the Part Design and Construction of an Elevated Viaduct, along with the establishment of five Elevated Metro Rail Stations—Shaheed Bagh, Khajrana Chauraha, Bengali Chauraha, Patrakar Colony & Palasia Chauraha—and a Ramp spanning Chainages 31+755 to 34+898.061 & 3+669.547 to 5+862 for the Indore Metro Rail Project (Contract Package IN-04).
As outlined in the company's exchange filing, the execution timeline for this substantial project is anticipated to be around 3 years. The total order, valued at Rs 543 crores, will be shared with a distribution of 51% for RVNL and 49% for URC Construction Pvt Ltd.
The inception of this collaboration dates back to March 2023 when the tender notice for Contract Package IN-04 of the Indore Metro Rail Project was issued, estimating a cost of Rs 495.32 crores. The bidding process witnessed the active participation of five reputable firms, including Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd-URC Construction Joint Venture, ITD Cementation India Ltd, Ranjit Buildcon Ltd, Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt. Ltd., and Sam India Builtwell Pvt Ltd. The financial positions of each bidder were as under:-
However, the fifth bidder Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon Pvt. Ltd. was disqualified due to not meeting the tender conditions.
The Yellow Line of the Indore Metro Rail Project, encompassing 29 metro stations from Gandhi Nagar to the Airport over a distance of 33.53 km, signifies a crucial transportation infrastructure initiative. Currently, the spotlight is on the under-construction priority section from Gandhi Nagar to Radisson Square, covering a distance of 16.21 km, with an expected operational launch in March 2024.
The successful bid by RVNL-URC JV for this substantial contract not only showcases their dominance in the railway construction sector but also underscores the commitment to enhancing urban connectivity in Madhya Pradesh. As this project unfolds over the next three years, it is poised to contribute significantly to the region's transportation landscape.
