Siemens wins ₹395 crore Electrification contract for Line 4 of Chennai Metro project

Chennai, India (Metro Rail Today): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on May 18, 2022, opened the financial bids for the contract package (C4-PS&OHE-09) for 25KV OHE electrification & power supply systems for corridor 4 of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase 2.

As per the information shared, Siemens Limited emerged as the lowest bidder among the other six bidders. A total of seven bidders had submitted their bids for the Design manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, training and commissioning of RSS, ASS, SCADA, OHE and switching stations for Corridor 4 (Poonamallee Bypass to Lighthouse, including Depot at Poonamallee) for Phase 2 of Chennai Metro Rail Project.

Tender notice for this contract package was issued in August 2021 with 1600 days completion period. Technical bids were opened in February 2022.

The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

  • Siemens Ltd: Rs 394.57 crores (L1)
  • Linxon India Ltd: Rs 396.52 crores (L2)
  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T): Rs 407.40 crores (L3)
  • KEC International Ltd: Rs 411.84 crores (L4)
  • Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd: Rs 427.82 crores (L5)
  • IRCON International Ltd: Rs 518.62 crores (L6)
  • Alstom Transport India Ltd: Rs 619.70 crores (L7)

Now all bids have been sent for final evaluation by the tender committee.

The under-construction Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro will cover a total distance of 26.09 km and connect Poonamallee Bypass to Lighthouse with 26 stations.
