From Paper to Platform: How Mumbai Metro’s Digital Ticketing Is Redefining Urban Mobility?
New Delhi, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for Delhi Metro's Phase 4 project, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. and SS.SS. Constructions Pvt. Ltd. (SSCONS) were recently awarded contracts for architectural finishing works at seven new underground stations along the 23.622 km Golden Line (Line-10), set to connect Aerocity to Tughlakabad through 15 stations. This important line will be part of the larger Delhi Metro Phase 4 project, financed by a Rs. 8,390 crore loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Contracts for Architectural Finishing Works
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued bids for two key packages in October-November 2024. The project is crucial to enhancing Delhi's metro infrastructure and will pave the way for smoother connectivity across the city.
Package DC-07A
Godrej & Boyce secured the ₹49.99 crore contract for architectural finishing works at three underground stations: Maa Anandmayee Marg, Tughlakabad Railway Colony, and Tughlakabad. The company is currently working on the underground construction of the Phase 4 project’s 6.981 km Package DC-07, which connects the Sarita Vihar Depot to the Sangam Vihar Ramp. The contract comes with a one-year deadline due to the critical nature of this section, which is the first to open on the Golden Line.
Final Contract Value: ₹49,99,70,132.33
Scope: Comprehensive architectural finishing works at three underground stations: Maa Anandmayee Marg, Tughlakabad Railway Colony, and Tughlakabad.
Package DC-08A
SS.SS. Constructions was awarded the ₹67.72 crore contract for the architectural finishing works at four underground stations: Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, and Kishangarh. The stations are part of the Phase 4 project’s 6.981 km underground Package DC-08, connecting Aerocity to Kishangarh. The package has a two-year deadline.
Final Contract Value: ₹67,72,54,904.00
Scope: Comprehensive architectural finishing works at four underground stations: Aerocity, Mahipalpur, Vasant Kunj, and Kishangarh.
Awarding Process and Competitive Bidding
The bidding process for both packages saw intense competition. Technical bids for the DC-07A package revealed four qualified bidders, and Godrej & Boyce emerged as the lowest bidder after the financial bid evaluation in March 2025. Similarly, nine bidders participated in the DC-08A bid, with SSCONS being selected as the lowest bidder after the financial evaluation.
A Step Forward for the Golden Line
In addition to these new awards, earlier this year, Himcon Engineers was awarded the ₹61.29 crore contract for four underground stations at Chhattarpur, Chhattarpur Mandir, IGNOU, and Neb Sarai, all part of Package DC-09. This package is under construction by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as part of the 6.51 km Package DC-09, connecting Kishangarh Station to the Saket Ramp.
With all architectural finishing contracts for the Golden Line now awarded, the project is advancing rapidly. A total of nine tunnel breakthroughs have been recorded to date, with the commercial operations of the Golden Line expected to begin no sooner than mid-2027.
As these infrastructure milestones continue to unfold, the Golden Line will be a game-changer in easing travel across Delhi, enhancing accessibility and reducing traffic congestion along this vital corridor.
