From Paper to Platform: How Mumbai Metro’s Digital Ticketing Is Redefining Urban Mobility?
Indore, India (Metro Rail Today): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the state government is considering the introduction of "Vande Metro" trains to significantly bolster public transportation in urban areas. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve infrastructure and connectivity in the state’s major cities.
At a recent review meeting of ongoing development works in Indore, Chief Minister Yadav highlighted the potential benefits of adopting Vande Metro technology. Unlike the existing metro systems, which operate at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour, the Vande Metro is designed to run at speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour on existing broad-gauge tracks. This enhancement promises to revolutionize urban transit by making it faster and more efficient.
Yadav also emphasized that Ujjain will be integrated into the metro network ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2028, ensuring that the city is well-connected by then.
Expansion and Infrastructure Development
In addition to the Vande Metro project, the Chief Minister announced plans to accelerate the construction of metro infrastructure in Indore. Elevated roads will be constructed to address the city’s traffic congestion, a move aimed at improving urban mobility.
The state government is also working on the formation of metropolitan authorities by merging parts of Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, and Dhar districts. The Chief Minister revealed that a comprehensive blueprint has been prepared for these metropolitan authorities, with the most promising feasibility reports coming from Indore and Ujjain. The metropolitan authorities will facilitate better coordination and planning across these cities.
The proposed Vande Metro projects and related infrastructure improvements reflect the state government's commitment to enhancing public transport facilities and overall urban development in Madhya Pradesh.
