New Delhi, India (Rail & Metro Today): The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber), India’s dedicated industry chamber for the railway sector, engaged with a high-level Czech business delegation during the India–Czech Republic Business Forum held at the Silver Oak Room, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on October 12, 2026. The forum provided an important platform to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral trade, industrial cooperation and technology partnerships, particularly in the railway and mobility sectors.
The Czech delegation was led by H.E. Mr. Karel Havlíček, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, and is visiting India from October 12 to 15, 2026, with scheduled engagements in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. The multisectoral delegation included representatives from railway, mobility, manufacturing and other industrial sectors, reflecting the potential for deeper economic and technological cooperation between the two countries.
Representing Rail Chamber, Mr. Surya Shah, Additional Director General (ADG), participated in discussions focused on expanding collaboration between Indian and Czech companies. The engagement highlighted opportunities to connect businesses, encourage investment and explore partnerships that can combine Czech engineering expertise with India's expanding railway infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities.
The discussions focused on potential technology partnerships, investment opportunities, manufacturing collaboration, business development and the exchange of technical expertise. With India continuing to expand and modernise its railway network, international partnerships can play an important role in introducing advanced technologies, strengthening domestic manufacturing and improving the competitiveness of the railway supply chain.
Potential areas of cooperation include rolling stock, railway components, signalling and telecommunications, railway infrastructure, advanced engineering, intelligent mobility solutions and the development of indigenous manufacturing capabilities through international technology collaboration.
The Czech Republic has an established industrial and engineering base, while India offers a large railway market, a growing domestic manufacturing ecosystem and opportunities for localisation. Collaboration between companies in the two countries could help facilitate technology exchange, joint manufacturing, supply-chain integration and access to new markets.
Such partnerships could also support the development of advanced railway products and systems, provided that participating companies identify commercially viable opportunities and align their technologies with the technical and regulatory requirements of their respective markets.
Commenting on the engagement, Dr. Vinod Shah, Director General, Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber), said:
“India and the Czech Republic share considerable potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in railway engineering, advanced manufacturing and mobility technologies. The Czech Republic’s industrial expertise, combined with India’s expanding railway infrastructure, strong domestic manufacturing base and growing demand for advanced railway solutions, creates promising opportunities for collaboration.
“At Rail Chamber, our objective is to translate such high-level dialogues into tangible industry-to-industry partnerships. We are committed to connecting Indian and Czech companies, facilitating technology and manufacturing collaborations, encouraging investment and supporting sustainable business opportunities. By bringing industry stakeholders together, we aim to contribute to a stronger, more competitive and globally connected Indian railway ecosystem in line with the vision of Viksit Rail Mission 2047.”
Building on the engagement, Rail Chamber aims to facilitate connections between Indian and Czech railway companies, identify potential technology and manufacturing partners, encourage cross-border investment and support collaborative business development initiatives.
The Chamber intends to promote sustained engagement among industry stakeholders to identify areas of common interest and help companies explore technology transfer, localisation, joint manufacturing and international market opportunities. Such initiatives can create avenues for Indian manufacturers to access specialised engineering capabilities while enabling Czech companies to explore India's expanding railway market.
The business forum also underlines the importance of industry-led cooperation in complementing government-to-government engagement. By bringing businesses together, industry chambers can help identify potential partners, facilitate dialogue and support the development of commercially sustainable collaborations.
For India, international industrial partnerships can contribute to the broader objectives of railway modernisation, technology adoption and domestic manufacturing growth. For Czech companies, cooperation with Indian businesses can provide opportunities to participate in infrastructure development and establish long-term industrial relationships in one of the world's major railway markets.
The engagement reflects Rail Chamber's commitment to connecting India's railway industry with international expertise, emerging technologies and global business opportunities. Through policy engagement, industry networking and international cooperation, the Chamber seeks to support innovation, strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities and encourage partnerships across the railway value chain.
As India advances its railway modernisation agenda and the long-term vision of Viksit Rail Mission 2047, closer cooperation with established international engineering and manufacturing centres could help create new opportunities for technology development, industrial growth and global competitiveness.
The India–Czech Republic Business Forum provides a platform to explore these possibilities, while Rail Chamber's continued engagement with industry stakeholders could help translate dialogue into practical business opportunities.
