Kapurthala, India (Metro Rail Today): In a significant development for the Indian Railways, S.S. Mishra (Subhranshu Shekhar Mishra) has officially assumed the role of General Manager at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala. Mishra, a seasoned railway professional, brings with him over 36 years of experience in the industry, and his leadership is expected to steer RCF toward new innovations and advancements in rail coach manufacturing.
S.S. Mishra, a Postgraduate in Mechanical Engineering and Management from the prestigious IIT-Chennai, joined the Indian Railways in 1988 as an Officer of the Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME). With a career spanning more than three decades, Mishra has worked across multiple key roles in the zonal railways, production units, and the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), gaining in-depth expertise in various facets of railway operations and rolling stock development.
Before taking up his current position at RCF Kapurthala, Mishra served as the Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME) at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. In this capacity, he played an instrumental role in the development and production of high-quality rolling stock, contributing to the Indian Railways' mission of modernizing its fleet.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mishra has held several high-profile positions. He has served as the Chief Administrative Officer at Lattur/ICF, Chief Rolling Stock Engineer at Secunderabad, and has also worked in various capacities at major railway locations including Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Kazipet. Mishra's leadership and innovative approach have earned him numerous accolades at the General Manager’s level.
His extensive work in the railways has also seen him travel across India for the development and export of rolling stock, further broadening his experience and understanding of the industry. Mishra's strategic vision and technical expertise have been pivotal in driving key initiatives within the railway sector, particularly in rolling stock production and operations.
